Millbrook Hunt Leg-up Ride
Are you interested in Foxhunting? Join this rare opportunity to ride in the hunt territory and with it's members to learn more about their amazing club and the exciting season ahead!
The goal of this ride is to offer members (and potential members) a chance to
ride together ahead of the season. Jumping and non-jumping flights will be offered.
A forward to reverse of field, hold hard, what to do at a check, etc. will be practiced.
BONUS: MH hounds, and Huntsman Erin, will be present at the start of the ride to answer any hunting/hound related questions you might have!
SCHEDULE
9:15AM Arrival and meet the group
10:00AM Ride begins
11:30AM Refreshments served and opportunity to ask questions about the hunt
INCLUDED
- A groomed and tacked horse
- 1.5 hour ride
- Access to the members-only hunt territory
- Experienced trainer and owner of the horses to lead
HORSES
The horses are trailered from our training facility in Pawling. There are a variety of breeds with different personalities, trained for open space riding, foxhunting, hunter paces and used in our lessons. Mixed breeds from spirited thoroughbreds to quieter draft breeds.
SETTING
Founded in the 1890’s, the Millbrook Hunt is widely acknowledged as one of the premier equestrian organizations in North America and has been a fixture here for over 100 years. The presence of the Millbrook Hunt supports and enhances the character and atmosphere of the area and helps to maintain the overall quality of life and historic traditions of the region.
Riders must be in regular lessons and able to confidently control a horse in open space. Jumping is optional. All riders need a high level of awareness to ensure the safety of riders and horses. This ride does require approval through a Bootcamp or Evaluation Ride.
ATTIRE
Tidy and neat riding attire. Tan breeches and a white sun or polo shirt recommended but not required.
- Tall riding boots or paddock boots and half chaps
