
Spring Horse Show
This year we are hosting our first horse show at RCF for MRC riders! Below we have outlined the various divisions, riders should join the class that they have self evaluated their level at. Each rider will leave with written feedback about their level, approval for open space rides, and summer camp session recommendation.
In addition to the descriptions below, riders will be judged on their fitting and showmanship which will include checking the grooming and tacking of each horse. Additionally, all riders will enter unmounted and demonstrate their mounting skills.
Walk Trot Division Level 2a riders will demonstrate their ability on the flat and over ground poles. Riders will be judged on their ability to make proper transitions, maintain the gait and utilize proper steering and riding aids. The class will be ridden as a group with directions and patterns called out by the judges.
Walk Trot Canter Division Level 2b riders will demonstrate their ability on the flat and over ground poles. Riders will be judged on their ability to make proper transitions and demonstrate control in gaits at walk, trot and canter. The class will be ridden as a group with directions and patterns called out by the judges.
Cross Rail Division Level 3a riders will be judged on their proficiency of flat work in walk, trot and canter as well as their jumping position, timing and aids over cross rails. There will be a division specific course sheet up when riders arrive to study and walk the course.
2'-2'3 Jumping Division Level 3b riders will be judged on their proficiency of flat work in walk, trot and canter as well as their jumping position, timing and aids over verticals with change of direction at heights of 2'-2'3'. There will be a division specific course sheet up when riders arrive to study and walk the course.
2'6 Jumping Division Level 4 riders will be judged on their proficiency of flat work in walk, trot and canter as well as their jumping position, timing and aids over verticals with change of direction at 2'6. There will be a division specific course sheet up when riders arrive to study and walk the course.
SCHEDULE
-Riders for the first Division should arrive at 10am to begin grooming and tacking
-All other riders should arrive by 10:30am to see all classes and be ready to groom and tack 1 hour ahead of their scheduled Division
-The first Division will begin at 11am
-Each rider will have approximately 10 minutes to warm up, and each division will last around 30 minutes, though the exact duration may vary based on the size of the division.
THE HORSES
Riders will be paired at random with one of the RCF horses aligned with the Level/ Division they have signed up for.

SETTING
State of the art equestrian facility with 160 private acres, just 90 minutes north of Manhattan. Large 100’x240’ ventilated and heated indoor arena with superb footing as well as two large outdoor arenas at 151’x230’ and 90’x210’. A professionally designed cross country training field with a variety of obstacles including a water feature, banks and ditches.
INCLUDED
- A space in the class you have registered for
- A horse to ride at the level of class you have registered for
- Written feedback from judges and level confirmation
- Hunter Pace or open space riding eligibility if applicable
- Recommendation for which summer camp class to join
ATTIRE
Show attire is welcome but not required. At a minimum riders should appear tidy, with clean boots and proper riding gear.
