The Clydesdale Hack & Wine Tasting

A perennial favorite among Manhattan Riding Club events, the Clydesdale Hack & Wine Tasting is a truly memorable experience with these gentle giants.

Before the ride, you will be introduced to the horses and paired with your mount based on riding experience. One lucky rider may even have the opportunity to ride Remus, the nearly record-breaking 20-hand Clydesdale!

Riders will spend approximately 90 minutes in the saddle, beginning in the arena to get comfortable with their horse before heading out on a scenic trail ride through a beautiful tree nursery. This ride is open to riders of all experience levels and will be conducted at the walk only.

We finish this wonderful outing with a relaxing wine tasting by the river. You may even receive special visits from some of the farm’s animals, including Doug the mini! We recommend bringing snacks and water to enjoy alongside the wine.

PROGRAM

• Riders arrive 15 minutes early to meet the group

• Riders mount and get to know horses in the arena

• The ride begins at the advertised time 

• After the ride, riders dismount and assist with untacking before heading to the wine tasting

ABOUT THE HORSES

The Clydesdale is a Scottish breed of draught horse named after its area of origin, the valley of the River Clyde. In the United States, they are widely recognized as the iconic Budweiser horses.

LEVEL
Open to all levels, including beginner riders

ATTIRE
Standard riding attire and equipment- Boots, breeches, helmet. There are helmets available to borrow if needed.

TRANSPORTATION
There is no public transportation option but you can click here to join our carpool group and try to arrange a ride share with other riders!

Aqui Market in Califon is a nearby grocery store you can stop at to pick up snacks, it's just a 4 minute drive.
