Roading + XC Weekend Retreat
Curious about Foxhunting? Dating back to 15th century, equestrians have been embarking on the chase of a fox with a pack of hounds to preserve open space. Today foxhunting honors the age old traditions from hounds to formal attire.
Roading is an informal pre season hound exercise ride. Masters and members bring out young hounds and green horses to build fitness and experience ahead of cubbing or informal hunting which begins in August.
While in this stunning part of Hudson Valley we will also have the unique opportunity for a cross country jumping lesson with Galloping Guru, Ericka Rose. Cross country jumping is an important skill for those of you wanting to experience a full season of foxhutning, this will be a great training opportunity.
We recommend riders stay in the town of Hudson, a historic and beautiful place to enjoy a weekend away from the city. Hudson is full of lovely hotels, bed and breakfasts and activities for your down time.
