Monmouth County Hunt
Sunday, March 14th at 9AM
Join us for a hunt with the Monmouth County Hunt. This hunt was founded in 1885 and today still enjoys hunting over 6,600 acres of farm country. Click here to read more about their alluring history!
This meet is welcoming Standardbred owners to get their horses out on the hunting field, read this article from last years hunt. After hunting there will be an informal, socially distanced breakfast outdoors and tastings of local beer or wine.
We will be taking out first time hunters for this hunt! However, please make sure you meet the experience requirements below and consider taking our hunting evaluation.
A commonly asked question is if we are actually hunting and the truth is it's more of a fox chase. Foxhunting began in the 15th century as a means to preserve farmland and crops and today still aims to preserve open space and to protect the open land we all so enjoy riding on and our horses and other animals need for grazing. Come along for yourself and see what it's all about!
Experience: Strong, brave riders who have paced before or have cross country experience. Hunts can last anywhere from 2 to 4 hours so you must be prepared for an unexpected day and ride. You can go from a complete standstill to a gallop across fields as the chase ensues.
If you have not hunted before and would like to join us, please click here to sign up for our Hunting Evaluation at Penwick Sporthorses.
