BRLA Locals Hack
Thursday September 30th, 10am
Are you a Bedford resident and BRLA member without a horse? Do you explore the trails on foot but wonder what it's like on a horse? We are excited to bring you the opportunity to do just that with our friends at the BRLA. Grab a friend or neighbor and join our monthly BRLA Locals Hack.
The ride is around 2 hours long, exploring the varied terrain and wildlife trails. Cross the creeks through Beaver Dam, ride through the lush open fields full of wildflowers and pass some of your neighbors homes on the way. The experienced horses will walk and trot along the trails and lead riders along an adventure through the Bedford Riding Lanes. English or western tack is available.
Although you don’t have to be an expert with horses to join this ride, you do need to know some of the basics and have some of the correct attire. If you are a complete beginner don’t fret! You can take lessons with us of the hack to be safely prepared.
Experience: LEVEL 2 (Novice)
A novice rider has not cantered regularly but is confident to do so and can post on the correct diagonal at rising trot. They are able to mount safely and to control a horse at a walk. Primarily only riding in controlled settings (ie indoor arena) or on walking trail rides with a leader.
Equipment needed: A heeled boot and helmet. You can head over to Ride Bedford on Old Post Road for the basics!
Location: John Jay Homestead
